The Experience

Before You Go

Bring reef-safe sunscreen

Use mineral-based sunscreen to protect corals and reapply after swimming; guides often remind guests before snorkeling.

Waterproof light or headlamp

A small waterproof torch helps you see and safely enter the water for the bioluminescence swim.

Wear water shoes

Rocky shorelines and sharp coral on shallow reefs make lightweight water shoes useful for beach entries and sandbar walks.

Hydrate and snack before boarding

This is a 7-hour outing with active swimming—bring water and eat a light meal before pickup to avoid seasickness and fatigue.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Sandbar walk between Tup and Mor Islands at low tide for shallow swimming and photos
  • Quiet reef fringe at the eastern side of Poda Island—less crowded for short snorkels

Wildlife

  • Blacktip reef shark (small, shy, often in deeper channels)
  • Tropical reef fish like parrotfish and butterflyfish

Conservation Note

Coral reefs around these islands are sensitive—stick to designated paths, avoid touching coral, and use reef-safe products to reduce local impact.

Krabi’s coast is dominated by karst formed over millions of years; fishing and boat-building are long-standing livelihoods for local communities around Ao Nang.
