The Experience

Before You Go

Bring reef‑safe sunscreen

Sunscreen that’s reef‑safe protects coral and prevents skin burns during multiple sun exposures.

Wear water shoes

Sharp shells and slippery limestone around sandbars and shores make water shoes useful on Tup and Poda Islands.

Check tide times

The sandbar at Tup Island appears only at low tide—morning departures usually give the best walkable window.

Secure belongings

Long-tail boats are open and bouncy—store phones in a dry bag and keep cameras on straps.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Walk the short scramble on Railay West for a quieter viewpoint above the bay
  • Early morning at Poda’s eastern end often has clearer water and fewer day‑trippers

Wildlife

  • Green sea turtle (occasionally seen while snorkeling)
  • Monitor lizards on quieter shorelines

Conservation Note

Islands are in a national park—pay the entrance fee, avoid touching coral, and use designated moorings to reduce anchor damage.

These islands sit off southern Thailand’s western coast where Malay and Thai seafaring traditions mixed; Phra Nang Cave has long been a site of local offerings and sea‑based folklore.

Yes — the tour is rated easy, but basic swimming ability is recommended for snorkeling; life jackets are provided on the boat.

Will we stop to snorkel from the boat?

Yes — snorkeling typically takes place off the boat at shallow reef areas near Chicken Island with equipment provided.

What happens if weather is bad?
