The Experience

Before You Go

Start early for better light

Pickup usually around 8:30am — morning light on Table Mountain and Chapman's Peak gives the best photos and calmer winds on the cableway.

Dress in layers

Coastal wind and altitude on Table Mountain can make temperatures swing; a windproof layer is important even on warm days.

Protect wildlife with distance

At Boulders boardwalk stay on designated paths and avoid feeding or touching penguins — viewing rules help protect the colony.

Boat options depend on sea state

Seal Island viewing from a boat is optional and weather-dependent; expect to remain on board for viewing rather than landing.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Kalk Bay harbour and fish market for fresh seafood and local character
  • Silvermine picnic spots on the Silvermine Plateau for quieter coastal views within Table Mountain National Park

Wildlife

  • African penguin
  • Cape fur seal

Conservation Note

The African penguin population is vulnerable; local reserves and SANParks manage protected boardwalks and conservation programs to limit disturbance and support rehabilitation.

Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope are sites tied to early Portuguese navigation in the 15th–16th centuries, marked today by memorial crosses and lighthouse history.

Common Questions

Is the Table Mountain cableway included?

Yes; this tour includes cableway tickets to the top of Table Mountain (subject to operational status on the day).

Can I get close to the penguins at Boulders Beach?

Boardwalks take you near the African penguin colony for safe viewing — touching or feeding penguins is not permitted to protect the colony.

Will we land on Seal Island?

No — boats typically view the Cape fur seals from the vessel; landing is not part of the standard tour.

Is the Cape Point lighthouse hike strenuous?

The main trail to the lighthouse is a short, steep walk of roughly 10–25 minutes depending on pace; a funicular is available as an alternative.
