The Experience

Before You Go

Book early and confirm minimum group size

Tours require at least two guests; reconfirm departure time and meeting point at Bo-Kaap Deli (Church & Rose Street) the day before.

Wear closed shoes with grip

Paths at Cape Point are rocky and can be steep; sturdy footwear helps on short hikes and uneven viewpoints.

Respect the penguins

Boulders Beach has boardwalks—stay on them, keep noise low and never feed or touch wildlife to protect the colony.

Bring layered wind protection

Coastal winds can be strong even in summer—pack a windproof jacket and sun protection for open viewpoints.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Kalk Bay harbour for casual seafood and local galleries on the return route
  • Silvermine picnic spots and short trails in Table Mountain National Park for quieter viewpoints

Wildlife

  • African penguin
  • Cape fur seal

Conservation Note

The African penguin population is vulnerable; visitors should use boardwalks, avoid feeding wildlife and support local conservation organisations and SANParks' stewardship efforts.

The peninsula has long maritime significance—European sailors rounded the Cape from the 15th century onward, and the area contains historic farms from the Dutch colonial period.
